Ray, thanks for coming in with this. As you well know, there are not too
many commercial 6 meter "tube type" amps available on the marker today. What
is available is far more expensive then whet Ron charges for his amps. The
solid state amps exceed "a dollar a watt" and so do the commercial amps. This
leaves the "wanting ham" for a 6 meter amp to spend quite a nice sum of money
for one. In this case, Ron, has filled a void in that market at or below
the "dollar a watt" mark. In my estimation a good sound 6 meter amp at about a
dollar a watt is a bargain. If one reads Ron's ads carefully they will
notice that he rebuilds the power supplies with new caps and bleeder resistors,
uses specific to 6 meter tank circuit components, and provides a variable
tuned input network. He carefully tests the unit and announces its capabilities.
He will refinish the cabinet so it looks like new. If one thinks for a
moment of the time and effort involved bringing something like this to the
"need" of hams I am sure you will conclude that it is more a "labor of love" to
the spirit of ham radio than a "for profit" endeavor. I don't think I would
want to try and live on whatever small profit he may make on one of these
units. Personally, all factors taken into consideration, its a bargain and it
fills a need that is not competitive in the commercial market. So as you
mention "supply and demand"!! Keep up the good work Ray. 73 Lou
