Aloha to all:

I can't tell if this is yet another cross posted reflection from another
robot, or originated in PNWVHFS mail, but I would like to say....

TenTec is coming around and finally offering some military and government
issue "included extras" such as the Ethernet port, in amateur gear. A
feature that is included on say their RX 340:
http://www.aoruk.com/tentec/receivers/rx340/rx340.htm

In my opinion, with regard to xvrtr tx interfacing, power output is not an
issue as there are normally multitudes of ways around this issue. Lower
level taps within the rig or out board attenuators are common additions to
ones transverters foundation.

The tx signal is always the easiest thing to put together. The rx is what
makes you shine!

The Omni VII will very likely out perform the PROIII, almost certainly.
After all, its origin is not of stamped out production, but first rate
quality and Sigma tolerances...no colorful bling, just serious, very quite
radio.

Dick,

Well, they're obviously NOT a bunch of rabid VHF/UHF fanatics, since they
had to be beaten roundly about the head and shoulders by the ham community
even to offer a radio that includes integral 6M coverage. However, the
possibility of a really well-designed RX front-end at a reasonable price
point atones for a multiplicity of sins in my book. I would assume the TX
will be programmable for output power down to 5 watts; that would work with
the Elecraft transverters for 144, 222, and 432 MHz, which can accomodate IF
drive levels from 10 microwatts to 8 watts. Where that leaves you with
respect to other transverters that might require sub-zero dBm drive
insertion levels... I don't know.
