[50mhz] FREQ LIST

Bob,
Real DX on 6 is possible depending on antenna, height, power and band
conditions...I have worked S America a lot on just a simple antenna up 30ft
but that doesn't happen all the time....several folks work NZ or AUS or
Europe from time to time..
For casual 6mtr opertation, a Halo or stacked PAR omni angles would be
good...for working LONG distance and weak signal all the time, put a 4-5 el
yagi (or more!) up as high as you can get it (at least 40-50ft)..and of
course the better the coax and antenna, the better your signal will be
(Remember 50Mhz is more VHF so the rules of lower loss, etc apply here;
forget a PREAMP; usually they are not much help..make sure you have a good
noise blanker as normal background static peaks on 6 and so does electrical
noise :(

As for freqs, here is the band as it sits:

CW ONLY: 50-50.1...no specified calling freq..usually the upper segment
(50.09-50.1)
Auto Beacons (good for band opening watch): 50.06 - 50.08 (US only...other
beacons are lower in freq..check out the net for a full beacon list)
SSB DX Call freq:: 50.110
SSB Stateside Call Freq: 50.125
AM Calling freq: 50.4
RTTY? Hardly used on 6 AFAIK.....

Digital modes are scattered through the bands (PSK31 is 50.029, etc)
