Hello John,
From what I understand, and the IC756 versions are as deaf as the IC746 models. I
believe somebody measured them with a front end noise figure of around 5 dB :-(
However, this is NOT at all unusual for modern transceivers, which are trying to
minimize distortion with strong signals. If you are interested in weak signal work,
I strongly urge you to consider getting a low noise external preamplifier such as a
CA50T from LNA:
