Now that the month of June is over, I thought I would go back and analyze how 6 was. My initial impression was that June 2005 was a pretty bad month for Es, but after going through my logs, I must rethink that. It seemed like we didn't have many openings, but I did find that there was Eskip openings at my QTH on 16 days. This is identical to June 2002, when we had Eskip on 17 days. Not as good as June 2003 which had 20 Eskip days, but most agree that 2003 was one of the best years ever.
This must also be a case of selective memory, because when I went through my logs for the 1990s (I started on 6 in 1992), the band wasn't open near as many days as I thought I remembered it being. The best year I recorded in the 90s was 1994 where I logged 13 days of Eskip. Several of those years had very few days logged, but also they had life events going on that kept me from monitoring 6 as much.
I guess 2005 hasn't been too bad of a year for 6, especially since I got 2 new DXCC countries this summer on 6 (KP2 and V3).
So, what has been YOUR impression of this Eskip season so far? The middle to end of May did seem to be the best time so far this year, at least at my QTH.
