Hi All: I have to throw my two cents in for what it's worth. About
four years ago, I started working six mobile and our good friend
Chris WB5ITT, clued me in to using the NMO150 by Larsen. It is not a
perfect match because it resonates a little high as it comes with the
standard stinger (rod) but I soldered on a two inch extension and it
was perfect. Worked excellent for about three years. Then, I added another one spaced at one quarter wavelength and added a Daiwa high
isolation coax switch between them and fed them with an exact 1/2
wavelength X vel. factor so that when I was using antenna "A", the
"B" antenna was electrically grounded, thus making the antenna
somewhat directional. This really works great and I drew a design
of it if anyone wants it. I just recently made a radical change and
am very pleased with it. I removed this antenna setup and instead,
mounted an M Squared HO Loop on my little Subaru Station Wagon and
the difference is remarkable. With Horizontal, I can hear better
and am being heard better. I have the HO Loop mounted on an 18 inch
mast with a Hustler magmount and use thin high strength nylon to
guy it to the luggage rack. I can e mail a photo of this mess if anyone is interested. I love it and now, with the Heil Sound Clear
Speech Speaker, I am in six meter heaven in the mobile.
OOPS! Sorry, my two cents turned out to be three cents. I apologize.
73's de Stan W5ZF DM65rd and many others (Tnx to Chris WB5ITT for all
the help)
