[50mhz] Mobile Operations on Six

Since 90% of my six meter operation is mobile, I wanted to
share a couple of ideas based on my experience in always
trying to improve my mobile performance. I still use my
ICOM 706 mk2(g), but I have replaced the phased NMO150
verticals with an M Squared HO Loop mounted 18 inches
above my station wagon roof towards the back, and have added a Heil Clear Speech DSP Speaker. This sums up to
a much better operation with no noise and I can hear better
than ever before. The Heil speaker makes it a joy to operate
and the noise floor is as low as it can get (my opinion).
Going horizontal in polarization also made a world of
difference. I have had many stations ask me what I used
for a mobile station because of the strong signal. I also have
gone through an extensive "De-NOISING" of the car such
as bonding and grounding thanks to my time as a Motorola
Field Service Engineer. Now, if the band and the Propagation
Gods would cooperate, I am ready to head to the rare grids
again. I once wrote an article for Motorola on de-noising
cars and if anyone needs it, I will try and send a copy in the
USA and if other, I will need a little postage help. The worst
I ever had to work on were the older Ford Pickups. Those
were a real challenge for curing ignition noise.
Thanks for letting me share this while I wait for the band to
open.
