Hi,

I think this is lightning enhancement. I've only got limited experience on 6M but the phenomenon is very common on 432 and 1296. In Chicago we would have a nice line of storms move from north to south and as the storm approached the mid-point to stations in KY and southern Indiana, we would have a good time with this mode. The only thing missing from this recording is static crashes from the lightning. Otherwise it sounds like lightning. Now, can anyone explain this, such as ionazation cause by strong lighning strikes? What's the mechanism? Also, check the weather records this day and time. The answer could be lurking there. Be sure to look "behind" the transmitting station.
