[50mhz] Mystery QSB recording of 50.079.96

I've listened to the recording, and IMO it's not a loose speaker wire, an
intermittent antenna connector, or receiver desense.

Reasons:

1) The noise floor is constant throughout the entire recording.

2) The timing of the drops/increases in signal strength don't sound like any
kind of man-made effect, like another station transmitting. The effects sound
randomly based, both in interval and duration.

3) The effect on signal strength appears binary -- either "on" or "off". And the
rise/fall time of the changes sounds virtually instantaneous, which pretty much
rules out typical AGC reaction to adjacent-channel signals. An analysis of the
audio waveform on an oscilloscope could confirm (or refute) these subjective
observations.

So I'm tentatively throwing my vote into the "lightning" camp, because I can't
think of any other phenomenon that would explain these specific symptoms.

Having said that, I'm unaware of any electromagnetic model that would explain
such an interaction between lightning and a signal path -- but then there's a
lot of things I'm unaware of. ;-\
