[50mhz] 49 MHz Walkie Talkies to 6m

Hi all,
Anyone have any luck with converting those cheapo 49
MHz kids walkie talkies to a QRP 6M XMTR?  I already
wired up a straight CW key to one and it sends CW in
the FM mode on one of the 49 meg channels.  I was
thinking of getting it to just transmit in the CW mode
and possibly re-crystaling it.  Anyone ever try this?
