True, I guess I should have stated a manual beacon, not an automatic 
beacon...yes, auto beacons are limited to 100watts.

Again, only for auto beacons...manually controlled AND monitored beacons 
can and DO operate anywhere within the band provided they meet mode, 
power, ID and control requirements. For HIS operation, I would use the 
50.06-50.08 auto beacon band unless he wants to MONITOR the freq while 
the beacon is running...(which is also required by law IF that is his 
choice :)
