Hope everyone enjoyed the June VHF contest last
weekend. Conditions were a far cry from last years,
but had fun anyway. On saturday there seemed to be a
little enhancement on 2 and 70cm, but the fun took off
around 5pm local when 6 meters broke wide open.
Stayed that way for 4 hours, and was hearing 4 or 5
different call districts at the same time. After 9 pm
the band was really spotty to CA and the west, where I
would hear only 1 or 2 stations at a time. There was
a small opening sunday AM, first to Northern
Minnesota, and then to Southern California. 4C2X from
DM11 was booming in here for 30 minutes or more.
Nothing else on 6 after than opening other than a
little backscatter, and meteor bursts.
Here are my totals:
Band QSO Grids
50mhz 101 70
144mhz 20 10
432mhz 5 4
Total=11,004
Didn't concentrate too much on 2 or 432, as I was
waiting for 6 to open, and waiting, and waiting... Did
get 3 new grids on 6 and 1 new grid on 432.
Station: Yaesu FT100D-100 watts on 6, 160 watts on 2,
20 watts on 432. 2 element miniquad on 6, Cushcraft
13B2 on 2, KLM 16 ele on 432.
See everyone this weekend in the SMIRK contest. Will
be on from EM12 during Hamcom, and then EM13, EM03,
and EM04 roving back home on sunday.
