I have the "plain" version (25 Watts) of the 5054DX.  Can't say that I've done
a lot of DX'ing with it, but it seems to be an OK rig.  Like Dave, the tuning
is awkward, but it's made slightly better by use of the hand-held mic's
Up/Down buttons.  The display is very hard to read in broad daylight.  At the
present, I have mine in my car, hoping the band will open up just a few times
more before it closes for the season.  I use a Lakeview NMO-58 5/8-wave NMO
mount whip (cut for 144 MHz) right now, but am working on a way to use my Par
OA-50 loop.  So, if the 100 watt version works the same as the 25 watt one, I
think you'll be getting a good radio.  But, your mileage may vary ...
