Well i see the band did wonders for the northwest and west coasts last
night with a W6 to EA contact . that is hard on 20 mts from the left coast
sometimes.
about 8pm est i was tuning and hearing nothing then the N0LL beacon came in
about s5 then dropped out an one of the Minn beacons came in S3 then faded
out. i was on .125 the rig on cw so i send a test and my call, Henry W0RLI
came back S3 deep qsb. it took us 3 tries to get calls and rpt's passed.
but we did make a quick qso then he was gone. looking at the map and the
beacons i was hearing and Henry being the only station i heard or heard me
I wondered if it could have been a double cloud E. I called him on SSB but
never heard him again. checking the map and WWV report. and the fact that
we had a CME hit. I am leaning towards an F Layer contact. between KY and
Org. EM77>CN85
This morning i got on at 8am EST. heard nothing north ,east,or west but
when i turned south again i heard a beacon S2 to S5 from EM86 in Fla.
nothing else. called cq on .125 ssb nothing then CW nothing. beacon still
in S4. called for 5 mins no replies shut down and went to work.. wish
someone in Fla or the Gulf had been on.. last night Henry and I were at the
right place at the right time. Thanks for the QSO Henry.
