I believe that you are correct in that the AOL system will not allow you
to log on to their using the windows operating system media dialer as most
other ISP's will.  I believe you must still use their spyware program to
access the internet.

Now in defense of most AOL users, they probably just don't care.  Its a
big country and they can choose to use whomever they so please. If they
don't care thats fine, its their money and their privacy.
