No offense to those stuck with AOL, (my many condolences)..
There's a reason AOL is an acronym for so many colorful things,
and also a reason why AOL Users is, in jest, properly pronounced
"AOLusers".
It's not the Users, but the AOL system itself, which makes many
AOL customers seem like gibbling idiots to the rest of the internet.
In making the Great Nanny-Satan AOL so 'safe' and 'easy', it has
become all too easy to click the wrong icon and have an
irrecoverable and undesirable action take place.
Nothing worth doing is easy, and that goes for using the internet.
In making it so easy, AOL not only takes over and screws up the
computers of its customers and spies on them, (unless you are a
power user or hacker you may never notice the intrusions and
modifications) but AOL has placed its customers upon a foul
pillar of its own crapulence for all to see.
Fire AOL and take anything else. My phone service is by SBC. I
take SBC internet service. and no I did not load their
'customized' netscape or IE. They want you to, but you don't have
to. I think AOL forces their software upon the user?
I have had to format more than one hard disk to get rid of a
friend's AOL damage completely and restore the PC to a usable state.
I have built more than one PC for a friend of a friend, only to
end up saying, "you did what??" when I heard they put AOL on it.
I have to stop now or I might start on a rant and tell how I
really feel about AOL. So I won't say anything more about it for now.
