The FT-8900R WILL crossband repeat.  You can cross band :
2m - 70cm
2M - 6M
2M - 10M
70cm - 2M
70cm - 6M
70cm - 10M

You cannot crossband 6M - 10M as both these bands only function on the left
display of the radio.
