BUT....I have found that pileups on 6 are not that common anyway. When
you get an opening on 6 it is USUALLY very specific to a very small
area. And then again the number of 6 meter hams is far less than the
number of 20 meter hams so the competition is not as great either. I
have had times where I was on a location where I was able to contact
hams over 1000 miles away in almost a 360 degree pattern and yet no one
near me could hear them so there was no pile up. In fact, I dont
remember ever getting a pile up on DX on 6 meters, only on local
contacts. I am sure DX pileups occur, but my 12 watts was all I ever
needed and an amp would have just been taking up space under the
dash...and amps off the battery....
