Great to see someone realizes there is more out there than HF and 2m. =
Good luck with your 220 gear, it's a sweet band. My informal group =
moved our packet network off 2m over to 220 with 441 for the backbone =
about a year ago, it's awesome. The noise floor on 220 is so much lower =
compared to 2m, it's night-n-day the difference. Old paths that were =
fringe on 2m, cake walks on 220.

2m for APRS, 220 for packet, 440 for FM on the repeaters, 6m for weak =
signal stuff. Run it all at once in the shack, no interference issues, =
no changing rigs/cables, no switches, no tons of filters, only way too =
go. 220 also opened up a lot of potential tower sites for us, most =
sites around here..the last thing they need is another VHF-hi =
transmitter on them. I will not bother to mention the mixing and =
intermod issues here in the 152/158 MHz 1kw consumer paging capital of =
the world, grin.

Good DX'ing!

Subject: [50mhz] Band trying to open??

Work KC0LBT on 50.125 earlier (about an hour ago)...signals were
up and down...he also worked (and I heard) W5UWB...also I heard
what sounded like a DX station (with a NP in its call after
  a number)...could have been a KP4?? not sure...band is quiet now=20
  but probably deserves listening..

NOW I am wiring up my 220 rptr with my Shackmaster Sm100 to talk
to the TS680 so I will have all mode 6m (and HF too!) while mobiling
in Houston...Hope to testing later today (its all mostly plug and
play but I do have to put up the 220 antenna here at the house.)
