I had simply (so I thought) made a "P.S." reminder comment to the effect of
(paraphrased) yes, always post to a list in plain text, no fancy fonts, or
backgrounds, just plain text on a white background. The reason I made this
comment because one of the computers I use has Lotus Notes for an email
client. "Notes" does not handle HTML (or any rich text) format well and has
trouble interpreting AOL's email encoding as well.

There are way to many software platforms out there. Contrary to what Janet
Reno believes MS doesn't not own the entire software world, and the only way
to maintain some semblance of cross compliance is for everyone to use plain
text. I know that for some of the "plug and play" "forward this to everyone
you know" "resend the entire original post with your reply when a couple of
lines would have done" people may have a difficult time grasping this
reality.

Hams, if any group of people, I would think should be able to grasp this.
Lets keep it simple folks, send posts in plain text, remove all unnecessary
text from forwarded part of the reply so that everyone knows exactly what it
is you are replying too! Sometimes you can't tell who is responding to what
and the whole tread gets blown out of proportion. This kind of bickering
serves no purpose.
