[50mhz] test

Fellow Amateurs,

I have read thread after thread on numerous ham alias re: sending (you pick
your format)
text and I have yet to respond to one of these postings. Well, now Iam
responding.

Iam an avid supporter of ham radio. I try to get many of my fellow engineers
involved. I
promote our hobby to kids, their friends and even at courses I teach. Ham
radio has been
on the forefront of technology. Unfortunately, given pissy issues such as
HTML vis a vis
text, ham radio is getting a reputation as a "old man's" hobby and Iam sorry
to say e-mail
discussions like this support that statement.

I have heard argument after argument why "thout shall not send HTML" and
quite frankly they
are usually based on someone's lack of I/O, or, the lack of I/O for a gent
(lady) reading
e-mail @ 1200bps from a packet terminal.

Folks, the argument is getting very tired, effectively, your suggesting that
if the old guy
driving the buick in the fast lane of Interstate 5 is doing 45 MPH we should
ALL do 45 MPH.

Folks, we need a little bit of Darwinism to cleanse the gene pool in amateur
radio. If people
want to hold back progress, then I suggest they find a new hobby. Otherwise,
this hobby I
cherish is going the way of the Model T and gents who drove them.

Regards

Now, hold on here a minute. *I* am the administrator of the 50mhz
Reflector, and I don't recall sending you a message that
you call "a suitable reminder". Now, it's possible that the automated system
here, which is the Mailman program, did send you
something that I was not aware of.

The physical owner of the computers that run the Reflectors did put in
another piece of software, this one will go thru
any posted message and cut out the vast majority of HTML-coded messages,
leaving just the plain text. If the software is
activated, then there will be 3 or 4 lines of text at the bottom of the
message that says that it DID cut out HTML, and it
reminds the sender to try to correct themselves in the future.

On behalf of the other users of this Reflector, please accept my apologies
for this misunderstanding, and please consider
rejoining the 50mhz Reflector. Reply directly to me at [email protected] ,
please.

To everyone else... if you have any questions on how the 50mhz Reflector
is operated, please feel free to contact me at the
address above, and keep it OFF of the Reflector. Or else. (evil grin)
