[50mhz] Remote controlling an Icom

In the May 1998 QST there was an article on how to
build a remote control interface for the Icom 706,
allowing remote control of the Icom using an HT.  The
article also states that it should work for other
Icoms-like the 746-also.  Has anyone had any luck
building one of these interfaces, and how well did it
work.  I might be getting a 746 or 706 soon, and it
seems like the perfect way to keep tabs on 6 meters
when away from the shack.  Even better, has anyone
built one of these interfaces, and no longer needs it,
because of getting a different rig, but would like to
sell the unit.
