Hi All: I just bought a DSP Noise Reduction unit called a JPS NIR-12
from a friend who has more toys than he knows what to do with. It is new
in the box and was built in 1995. I tried it on six meters, where I have
been plagued with heterodynes and birdies all over the band which the
existing Timewave unit I have didn't help. This unit is absolutely
fabulous and takes all the junk off the band except signals. I can hear
weak signals on six now that I couldn't hear before. I live under a
10,500 foot mountain called Sandia Peak that is covered with TV and FM
and two way radio towers and it is a rough QTH for weak signals.
My question is, Does JPS still exist?, and if not, did another company
buy JPS Communications, and if that is yes, what is their name? I am
interested from the perspective that if I need to get this little
toy serviced, who does that sort of thing. I have very limited
eyesight and those little boxes scare me when I look inside.
Thanks, for your help, as always.
