Well i am glad to say that the band opened into new England during the past
two days with E's. For the past 2 years i have set in Somerset KY em77 and
watched spots and heard others working the UK and Europe and never hear a
ping here.
having been on six again after a 15 yr off period. i have been hoping of
getting that KH6 i have needed since the 70's for my last state. again
watch everyone in IND WI ILL and Ohio work then even the boys in Louisville
KY work them and never a signal heard here in the south central part of the
state. for the past 2 months i have listened every morning to the 2 OX
beacons coming in s5 to s9 and nothing else. the boys in VA ,W VA and NC
working the EU boys like crazy .. again nothing. but not to give up hope i
have a 5 to 7 min window each morning that i can hear the UK and EU boys. i
have worked a few but most of the time they are calling for w6 w7 w0 only
hummmm. hope they get all the states and grid sq's worked soon so they will
stand by for the south. The same thing with the KL7's I have a 5 min window
that i can hear them when they are working the east coast.
Seems like the path is in two parts from UK and EU it runs just north west
of Somerset (80 miles south of Lexington) along a line that passes throught
southern IND. heading southwest, with the other path running east of me
through the VA W VA NC GA area.
Guess that is why i always liked 6 mts You have to work for what you
get. as for the KH6 VK ZL boy have the boys along the northern states
been luckily, seems the boys in the deep south have had their fair share of
opening also. Oh well its winter again guess i need to put the 160 mt ant
back up.
btw I do not think it is my gear as it does seem too work when the band
opens for me.
