2009 will be the 10th anniversary of QRPme hosting QRPers in Maine and 
having a lobster feed as a focal point of our activities. The very first 
lobster feed was held at Ft. Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth in 1999. My 
rememberance unit is a little faulty but I seem to remember 18 QRPers in 
attendance. Most in attendance were from out of state and my feelings 
about the event were that the toll of driving to and from the gathering 
really cut down the time people could hang out and socialize. So I 
searched, in earnest, to find a nice campground that would accommodate 
our propensity  to throw wires up into trees. State parks have a problem 
with campers messing with their trees. Private parks are more flexible. 
I had visited Thomas Point Beach & Campground many times while attending 
annual events held there: Maine Highland Games, Maine Festival & 
Bluegrass Festival. I approached the owner, Patti, told her about out 
our needs AND our propensities and we still cemented a deal that has 
been good for Lobstercon and QRPers. Lobstercon 2009 will be the best 
Lobstercon EVER!
