I can't run the net by myself, even if all my equipment worked
perfectly.
In the event of equipment screwups, personal emergencies, thunderstorms,
and other reasons that a net control could be a no-show, THE 10-137 NET
MUST GO ON.
The rules and script are at www.jasonhsu.com/ham_radio-10137.doc
Please remember the special rules of the net. Note that Rule #1 is
needed to ensure that the skip zones of the primary and backup net
controls do not overlap. Note that Rules #4, #5, and #6 are needed to
ensure that the net is held in the event the unexpected happens. The
rules are:
1. There is a primary net control and backup net control for each
session. To ensure that neither one is in the other's skip zone and to
make sure that neither skip zone overlaps, both net controls must be at
least 800 miles apart.
2. The primary net control selects the Topic of the Day of the ragchew
portion of the net.
3. The backup net control is the relay who allows stations within the
primary station's skip zone to check into the net.
4. If the primary net control fails to start the net within 5 minutes of
the scheduled time, the backup net control becomes the new primary net
control and recruits a new backup net control who is at least 800 miles
away.
5. If the backup net control does not show up, the primary net control
recruits a new net control who is at least 800 miles away.
6. If neither the primary nor backup net control show up within 7
minutes of the scheduled time, any of the remaining participants may
take over as the primary net control and recruit a backup net control
who is at least 800 miles away.
