[30m] Screwdriver antenna problem

I should tell you more about the RF ground plane I'm using.
I have a ring terminal attached to one of the ground screws at the
bottom of the DK3 with #12 stranded wire soldered in. The other end of
the #12 stranded wire is soldered to a ribbon cable (a pre-tinned flat
piece of copper). The other side of the ribbon cable is attached to a
strip of aluminum foil attic insulation with aluminum foil duct tape.
The strip of aluminum foil attic insulation is attached to a
several-foot-long length of aluminum foil attic insulation lying on the
ground. A second sheet of aluminum foil attic insulation is also used
and is attached to the first sheet. 16 aluminum wire radials are
attached to the large sheets of aluminum foil attic insulation. The
large sheets of aluminum foil attic insulation are now brand new (I
thought they were too dirty), but that didn't improve the situation.
