[2m] Installing 2M Rig in a 99 Chevy Cavalier

I am a new ham (the ink is still wet on my ticket) looking to install a 
2M rig (not yet selected) in a 99 Chevy Cavalier with automatic 
transmission. The problem I have is that cannot find a place to mount 
one. There is an installed AM/FM radio that I would rather not give up.

An under the dash mount is out because because my wife or would bump our 
knees on it. I did notice a rectangular plastic plate under the dash 
that might be an option but I do not know what is behind it or how to 
remove it.

Our children ride in the back seat and a rig mounted on the back of the 
console or behind the front seats would probably get bumped into by them.

Has anybody out there figured this one out?
