[2m] FT-8500 Yaesu

I have a Yaesu FT-8500 and am attempting a repair. I have a schematic but no
service manual or narrative on the circuit.

The radio was connected to the power source in reverse and has not worked
since that time. I am under the impression that the radio is protected from
this with diode protection and if I replace the diode then the radio will
function once again (barring any other problems).

Is this true? Is the diode the D1021 number on the schematic? I do not know
the diode used for replacement so if someone has gone through this before I
would appreciate some feedback. Does anyone know where I can get a service
manual? Thanks for your help.
