** Most Wanted 144Mc Squares EUROPE 2004 **
*******************************************************************
Data Survey for the 144MHz Most Wanted Squares Europe 2004
by Guido, DL8EBW, in cooperation with "Funktelegramm"
In the past years the VHF-DX-Gruppe DL-West, together with the
German magazine "Funktelegramm", created the:
M(ost) W(anted) 144MHz S(quare) list for europe.
Past years it was quite nice to see that a lot of
vhf-dx-peditioners have checked and used these lists,
for finding a good and wanted square for their expeditions.
Again this year our VHF-DX-Group DL-West will run an inquiry
of the
(M)ost (W)anted 144 MHz (S)quares europe 2004.
Please check the following rules and send your infos as soon
as possible. Deadline of these inquiry is March 7th, 2004 !
By the end of March 2004, we will be able to distribute the
results in Funktelegramm, Funkamateur, CQDL, PR and Internet
pages, so everybody will have a good chance to find a recommended
square to activate in the coming season.
The (M)ost (W)anted 144Mc (S)quares inquiry europe 2004:
Everybody can once send in as many most wanted squares as he wants.
Of course it will be necessary that the wanted squares have to be
in a reachable area from his QTH (recommendation: tropo stations
send in 800km area - MS stations up to 2000km . . .).
Also all "sea" squares are possible to activate, as we have seen
from several good expeditions in the past years ! So if you need
them, it will be nice to give an initial about these ones
also - of course they shall be within your tropo range. . .
Its your decision if you count only not worked square, or if you
add the squares depending on confirmation. The DXCC inquiry will
be worked out only every 2 years!
The preferred method to list your entry in is through a MWD
formatted file, that can be made from at least several programs.
If your logbook program does not support the MWD format, yet,
or you do not use a computer based logbook program you may
alternatively submit your entry in a file with one square
per line. Here an example for the input file
(please use ANSI textfile with name: "call".log):

Inbetween a lot of people did recognize the easy way to get
their own most wanted Square-list. EA6VQ, Gabriel, built up an
automatic search routine in his logbook programm! You'll get
the latest VHF-logbook version from his VQLog homepage,
OH5IY, Ilkka, has built a routine for his MS-software 5.1.
Also many thanks to OZ2M, Bo, who define a format (mwd) for our
MWS inquiry to use in logbook programs, and also for building up
a tool which is able to give out the result of these inquiry.
Please send in your MWS result to :
VHF-DX-Gruppe DL-West c/o DL8EBW, G. Jnkersfeld
via snailmail: Gustav-Freytag-Str.1, D-42327 Wuppertal, Germany
via AX25 BBS: DL8EBW@DBLJ.#RPL.DEU.EU
via AX25 cluster: DBSUE-7
via eMail: [email protected]
If you submit your entry via e-mail please do not put the info
inside the mail but as an attached file.
The results of the inquiry will be published in Funktelegramm,
Funkamateur, CQDL, PR and all VHF-reflectors on internet by the
end of March 2004. Thanks very much to all for the input
in advance.
