I just bought an HTX-10 for less than $39 new from RS in their
closeout. They have to ship it from Pampa, TX to Garland, TX, but I
should get it on Wednesday. I know this isn't a 2 meter question, but
what's the difference between the HTX-10 and HTX-100? When I went into
the store, they couldn't find anything at all on HTX-100 and had a heck
of a time finding their SKU for the HTX-10.
And have you checked out Radio Shack's catalog for ham radio stuff? It
looks like they're getting out of the amateur market almost completely.
The only radio they offer in it for mobile/home use is a 2 meter rig.
The rest are HT's. Not that RS would be my first choice for ham gear,
but hey, at less than $39 for a 10 meter rig, it's kinda hard to pass it
up unless it's really crappy.
When I went into the store and the gal finally found the info on the
radio, she told me they were going for $39.95 and when I mentioned that
I work for Verizon, she told me I would get a 10% discount...not sure
what RS and Verizon have going, but it paid the tax on the radio. If
you're thinking about getting a cheap 10 meter rig for a backup or
possible mobile, you'd better do it quick. There are very few of them
left in the stores.
