Go to most any ARRL handbook between 1980 and about 1995. Look for the 
NBS yagi table. Build one of those. Use a wood boom, say 1x1 redwood. 
Anchor the elements with one wood screw each element.

Don't approximate the materials. Where they call for 3/16" diameter 
elements use 3/16", not 1/4, not 1/8". Cut the lengths a little long and file to 
length. (you may to acquire a file). Use the insulated elements columns. Build 
the T-match as described. It will work.
