Well Back when we were designing "Antenna Couplers" of the automatic
variety, for Military use the power was dropped to a level of around 1 watt,
and in some cases lower (100 milliwatts). The system doesn't need to be
tuned at full output power anyway. Problem with the stuff coming into the
country is reality is not a factor in their design.
A matched system will indicate the matched condition with 1 KW or 1 watt
if it is designed properly. Most of the auto-tuners are only adjusting the
antenna side of the system, the first thing that should happen is lower the
power output to the minimum needed then pulse the system and check
the results, that isn't what is happening here, they are just keying the
thing and
tuning for max smoke, without operator intervention.

Misquoting here, any technology sufficiently misunderstood by the common
folk, devolves to "MAGIC", or words to that effect!
