I'm big time into interfacing my Yaesu FT-840 rig to my computer and =
also using digital software, a fairly new area for me to learn and =
expand my horizons within our great radio service. In any event I have =
come across an excellent free rig to computer interface program. It's =
called Ham Radio Deluxe and can be downloaded at =
http://www.kns.ch/sysgem/hb9drv/HamRadioDeluxe.htm .=20
As far as software for PSK31 I recommend AE4JY's very user friendly and =
free WinPSKse v2.23, it can be downloaded at http://www.winpskse.com . =
You can monitor two QSO's at the same time.
As far as an actual CAT interface between rig and computer I recommend =
the W1GEE interface. It's simple and affordable and works real good. It =
can be purchased at http://www.n3fjp.com . BTW you can also purchase and =
download N3FJP's excellent QSO logging software. It's called AC Log and =
is currently at v2.5. You can download a full version and play with it =
for 30 days. If you buy it it's only $19.00 and he provides top notch =
support of the product. You can even make suggestions as to how to =
improve it. I've used it for three years now and have close to 10,000 =
QSO's in the program. It interfaces with ARRL LOTW and eQSL and supports =
ADIF format import and export. You can also control your rig, send CW =
and receive DX spots and more.
Last but not least I have an early form of MS and it creates major =
problems for me hand wise when I use a CW Iambic paddle or straight key. =
Oddly enough though I can send CW via a keyboard with little trouble. I =
came across some excellent keyboard CW sending software from Germany. =
It's called MRP4060 and can be downloaded at =
http://www.polar-electric.com/Morse/MRP40-EN/index.html . It costs =
$65.70 and is worth every penny, as I can send at 25 wpm with little =
effort. I can copy CW by ear at 25 wpm but also use the CW receive mode =
aspect of the software. It has a weak signal mode that hears below the =
ambient noise level and it can fill in the blanks at times when the =
signal disappears. It can make the difference when you miss part of a =
callsign or RST report. I find it very useful on 160 and 80 meters where =
fades can be long and QRN high.
Last but not least I have no financial ties to any of the above =
products. I'm simply passing on my personal experiences!
