If you can't get the vertical section more than 40 feet long, it won't
matter what the horizontal section is...
the longer the horizontal section, the greater the horizontal component of
the signal. (i.e.) it will behave
less like a vertical. You need ehough top hat capacity to make the antenna
resonant... that is it.
I have heard some are using 3/8 wave lengths. I

I haven't run the impedences, but the vertical will probably be about a 2:1
match
with the RG-8 (just a guess) Use a tuner inside or a matching circuit at
the base
Is there any special treatment at the feedpoint
