I am only running an Inverted-L now at 60 feet up, but am
considering a quarterwavelength tower (Rohn 25g) over a
ground mat for next year.
What would be the effect of adding a ring to the outside
ends of the radial wires to bond them all together? This is
done at some AM Broadcast stations.
Would it be beneficial to justify the labor and co$t?

Hi JV,
Hope your heart is on the mend nowb after the operation!
Don't bother adding any radialsfor 160, unless you can make
them longer!!
Once the system is beyond 40-50 1/4 wl radials, the curve
gets very flat. More ground probably couldn't squeeze
another 1/2 db out of the system, unless the radials were
really long.
The electrical rule is simple. Once the largest spacing
between wires (that would be at the open ends) is between
.05 and .025 wavelengths, the radial system looks
electrically like a solid of copper sheet.
For 160 meters, that would be .025 times about 500 feet or
around 12.5 feet at the open ends of the wires.
I follow that guideline here when I install radials.
