Thank you for all the responses to my email. I also have a couple more =
"newbie" questions.
1) Are DX contacts mostly done on CW or is there also SSB DX activity. =
2) My understanding was the "DX" window was 1.830 to 1.850 but I only =
hear local stations in this space. Is this normal?
3) When is the best time to operate 160? I know the night time is when =
the band is active but are there "peak" times when the band is in better =
shape?
4) How does 160 work with the current sun spot cycle? Is it like other =
HF bands whereas the more sun spots, the better? I have heard that =
maybe the opposite it correct?
Just trying to understand how the TOP band works. I play around quite a =
bit on 80 meters and mostly chase DX. I have checked into a worked all =
states net on 160 about a week ago and had a lot of fun. I worked 8 =
states but haven't checked in to the net since because the stations were =
very weak. I guess the conditions were good the one night I did check =
in. I will keep trying!
