"Best" for what? Local ragchews? DX?
Of course, the "best" would be a large Sterba curtain, right? But who has
the real-estate or supports for that?
Most 160m operators use some kind of vertical antenna, either with
elevated or ground-mounted radials. Because of the height required (~130+
feet), many are using inverted-Ls or folded unipoles of some sort.
Some are lucky enough to have space for phased verticals or a four square.
Horizontal antennas aren't that effective for DX because of the extreme
height required to bring the pattern closer to the horizon. (~300+ feet)
Most hams don't find supports of this height practical.
