It's really cool to see some news about amateur radio enforcement. Too =
many
times the idea of self-policing gets diluted by the "us vs. them" =
attitude
and rules and gentleman's agreements are tossed out the window. I think =
it's
time all amateurs started looking at the band privileges as their own to
enjoy and be watchful over. If you think it's no big deal tune around =
the CB
bands and listen to the crud that passes for citizen's band =
communication. I
wouldn't let my son listen to that, much less encourage him to =
participate
in it. Protect our bands, if you want to garbage talk and not practice =
good
operating skills buy a CB and scan around to join the few who don't care =
and
continue to roll the dice on lack of enforcement. The lack of =
responsible
behavior on CB bands and the disregard for the band plans by operating =
in
the ham bands is a sure clue that the operator didn't have to work for =
that
privilege. Think about that as we remove the Morse requirement and give =
away
the General class license. Anything good is worth working for and most =
good
things require work to achieve; a good job, a well raised child, a nice
house, a good marriage, etc. I have known some real good CB operators in =
my
time and they all had a common thread; they all got tired of the junk on =
the
air and went out and got their ham ticket.=20
