Get a pocket AM radio, set it to the top or bottom of the band and wave it
near every electrical device in your house and see what happens!  VCRs,
computers etc.  Now imagine a VERY sensitive HF rig with a BIG antenna!  It
isn't poor design of the signs, you have a device doing exactly what it is
designed to...  pick up every bit of RF it can.
