Jim, I've run an HTX-10 for 4 months now and haven't encountered any problems
yet in my
' 99 Dodge Ram with it's factory 136 amp alternator. A few years back, I
owned a 94 Nissan Pickup and ran a 500 watt amp with a Ranger 10 meter and
the alternator was an endless source of problems until I installed a second
battery. It seemed that the draw on the board with the diode inside the
regulator would literally melt down! I was told by the fellow that sold me
the alt. that he wouldn't exchange it out anymore after the third one nearly
caught fire. Hope you find a solution to your problem soon.

John W4PRZ
