[10m] Problems with Alternators and HTX-10

Has anyone had problems with their mobile rig causing their alternator to fail?

I have HTX-10s on both of our family vehicles.  A 97 Suburban and 93 Nissan 
Pathfinder.

They are connected directly to the battery.  It seems that the alternators 
keep failing.  The batteries have
juice but after a few months the alternator output drops to zero and the 
battery runs down.
