[1000mp] Mk V Power Switch

I'm trying to determine how involved a procedure is required to replace 
the switch. The exploded diagram in the service manual makes this unclear.

The switch is mounted on a small bracket which will need to be 
dismounted for access.

Is it possible to do this just by removing the top cover from the radio?
Or is it also necessary to dismount the front panel sub-assembly, but 
not remove the front panel itself from the sub-assembly? Or is it 
necessary to totally remove the front panel, which will require removing 
all the knobs?
