[1000mp] FT-1000MP MkV Field 1/8 inch earphone jack

1000mp,

About a year ago the top earphone socket on the front (the 1/8 inch one)
became intermittent, then stopped working completely. The 1/4 inch one
right below it works fine.  But what ever happened inside the 1/8 socket
keeps the speaker from coming on when you unplug the earphones.  This
never bothered me as I always use headphones anyway.  But I suspect a
new owner will want it fixed.  I don't really care if the 1/8th inch
socket works, I just want the speaker to come on when you unplug the 1/4
inch earphones.  I looked at the back of the front panel and I cannot
for the life of me see how to get at that socket or the little board it
is mounted on.  I can't even see how that board is mounted in the radio.

Has anyone had experience with this?
