I have a FT1000MP MkV Field with an AL-811 with 500W out. On the cases when the radio switches back from TX to RX it sounds like the MP's ant unit relay sticks and I can hear barely/nothing at all the band. The receiver comes back only after a certain amount of time or if I step the foot-switch again couple of times. If I run barefoot 100W nothing similar happens. I don't have opto decoupled TX GND/relay switching, only directly connected with RCA's. I suspect the RF comes back somehow or maybe the PA ant relay might be guilty. Do you think is this the relay or the switching transistor on the ant unit board? Any other ideas? Thanks a lot in advance. 73! I now have it occasionally with my K3S and the Alpha. It is an RFI relay issue on the PA antenna relay circuit. Do you have more than one antenna connected to the amp? If so, see if better isolation fixes the problem. If not, look to broader RFI abatement strategies. 73, Peter W2CDO Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE smartphone -------- Original message -------- From: HA3LN Date: 4/16/18 4:17 PM (GMT-05:00) To: All about Yaesu 1000mp <1000mp at mailman.qth.net> Subject: [1000mp] Sticking ant relays Deal All, I'm wondering whether if any of you faced this before. You have to be sure where the problem is...in TRX or PA. Ameritrons has cheap relays in amplifiers, especially in older serial numbers. That could be a problem. Test it few days to see what will happen... 73..Kiko,9A4WY On 16.4.2018. 22:16, HA3LN wrote: > Deal All, > > I'm wondering whether if any of you faced this before. > > I have a FT1000MP MkV Field with an AL-811 with 500W out. > > On the cases when the radio switches back from TX to RX it sounds like > the > MP's ant unit relay sticks and I can hear barely/nothing at all the > band. My FT-1000MP started acting the same way a few years ago. ? ? It turned out to be band pass filter relays that had worn relay contacts and a few cold solder joints on that board. Replaced the failed relays and resoldered the board and the radio has worked fine for the past 5 years. ? Douglas in Green Bay?
