[1000mp] Anyone experienced a bad serial port with their MP? 03/18/17

Has any one experienced a bad serial port with their FT-1000MP? If you had
this failure, what year was that failure for you? What was the activity at
the time of the failure? For example was the rig powered on when connecting
or disconnecting the serial cable? It was a topic of interest some
years ago.
Hoping that concern has not continued. Thanks - 73 from Bill - WD8ARZ

You may have a blown rs232 chip. It has been known to happen from time to
time due to RFI getting in on the data cable. Last time I dug into this for
someone, I suggested that when installing a replacement, use a IC socket to
make the next change out easier ... hi hi Have not had that happen here,
yet, but many have reported it.
