Hi Mike.....my name is Ted VE3SS....I just finished setting up what you are describing for myself.
I also have an original FT1000MP and I use a yaesu FL7000 solid state amp (600 watts out).
I built a front end saver unit. This is what you need to protect the front end of your radio from rf
Feedback. There are commercial units available or you can build one yourself. Its a simple circuit
and it works!! I have my receive loop underneath my 160m inv-L due to the size of my backyard and I have
participated in contests using my amp with no problems. If you don’t add this box into the equation, you
are taking a lot of risk. You could accidently transmit into the loop or you get the feedback which blows
up the front end of the rig. If you have any questions, feel free to reply.
Good Luck with it.

I have an FT1000MP / Quadra combo with an inverted L for 160 meters. I would like to use the rec out terminal for a receive only loop for 160 meters. I know how to hook it all up but am concerned about any possible RF getting back into the rig. The loop will be located 10 feet away from the inverted L and about 5 lower in height. Should I add any additional protection to the rec out terminal or will I be O.K. ??
