When switching to CW, the transmitter keys up by itself, simulating a steady key down condition. If I press either of the VOX or MOX buttons when in CW mode, it transmits a steady carrier. Disconnecting the paddles or key did not fix this. It seems to receive OK. I don't know whether there is a small circuit board that could be removed and repaired, or perhaps the main CPU has a shorted output pin. I've tried all kinds of resets without success. Where can I send it for repair? Figured I would share the latest configuration of my base station, and hopefully hear about your stations too .... A few weeks ago, I changed the stock configuration of my FT-1000MP that came with an internal power supply, to using the external 13.8 vdc connector on the back of the rig..... as explained in the owners manual. I then began using an external AC to 13.8 vdc power supply. Satisfied that this power supply arrangement has worked out ok, I decided to go to the next phase ..... Couple of days ago I placed a VMAX "Charge Tank" AGM Deep Cycle battery under the table that the FT-100MP sits on next to my easy chair in the living room. ==================================== Product Description from manufacture: The heart of the VMAX is the unique physical and chemical structure of its plates. The special treatment and manufacturing process they undergo gains them unique reliability, strength and high performance far exceeding those of other Pb-Ca plates used in similar looking products. Using our specially designed Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) between the VMAX plates, adds to its many physical and electrical advantages that make it superior to the Wet Lead Acid Batteries. This also maximizes the VMAX resistance to shocks and vibrations. Since the electrolyte is totally absorbed by the AGM, the VMAX is classified as "non-spillable and non-hazardous". A tough Tank seals and protects the tightly packed plates delivering the VMAX in a 100% maintenance-free package. Though VMAX Tanks are best known for their long life span, their capability to recover after repeated deep discharges is what makes them the favorite choice for any application. ==================================== Technical Details - 12 Volt 125Ah Group 31 AGM Deep Cycle Heavy Duty Battery AGM Electrolyte Suspension System Custom Built Military Grade Alloys Maintenance free Operation Fast Charge Delivery Capabilities Extremely Low Self Discharge Rate Extreme Vibrations, Heat and Weather resistant Sealed Non-Spillable Non Hazardous Construction Maximum Power Density and Deep Cycle Capabilities Brand Name: VMAX Solar Model Number: VMAXSLR125 Item Height: 8.7 inches Item Length: 6.8 inches Item Width: 12.9 inches Item Weight: 75 pounds Includes carrying strap, military grade custom made plates, and are made here in USA. So far so good. There is a Ham on the East side of Joliet IL (3-4 Hrs from you) that does very good work on the 1000mp. His name is Jack but I forgot his call , I will send you his phone number to your QRZ email address . He did a great job on my mp after I plugged the HV amp keying line into the wrong RCA plug. if I remember he was reasenable too and repaired it in relative short time. When I had problems with poor solder connections on some coils, he helped me over the phone to trouble shoot it and I was able fix it myself. What a guy!
