Hi Bill,
Not trying to be a smart-ass or even picky but for accuracy 's sake
the SM-220 scope was mfg by Kenwood. The Heathkit scopes
were designated HO-10, SB-610 & SB-614 and were good for
checking the transmit RF envelope and could be modified to pick-up
the .455 kc IF signal in other than Heathkit receivers but the resolution
and bandwith is quite limited. The SM-220 with the BP-8 accessory
enabled it to display the receiver IF signal in the 8.830 mhz 2nd. IF
stage and again bandwidth was limited. Using modern SDR systems
makes a much better bandscope. I like the bandscope in my IC-756
Pro III which displays the bandwidth in real time in 12.5, 25, 50 and
100 khz up and down from the center frequency a little small but it works
quite well.
I know you know all this and that you just mis-typed the wrong brand name
when referring to the SM-220.
Have a great day.
