Hi Al, a 100w ssb radio should be run max at 25watts am----this is due to removal of carrier and other sub bands allowing 100w talk power in single side band-have fun!-73 Rick Ve1rnm

Subject: [1000mp] AM power FT-1000MP
Just acquired a FT-1000MP and need a little clarification on AM and menus.
The manual says the RF power knob adjusts the output from 5-100 watts,
except in
AM mode where it is about 5-25 watts. This would be the correct power to use
in AM.
However I can crank it up to 100 watts. Is this normal?
Also in setting the menus I assume that when the choice is finally made I
press the ENT button
to lock in the setting.
But nowhere in the manual does it say that.
Tnx for any info,
Al
